Who Sets the Tones?
Tone is important
In every walk of life
And for all
Though fewer sets it
Driven by fewer interests
Accepted by most
Because of acceptance of most
Tones are initially set
With long term agenda
Called “vision”
Followed by deliberations
Within the framework
Already settled
Stage is prepared
Participants are identified
Some inherit
Most either accept or modify
Only few look beyond
Known as sceptics
May be radical or reactionary or
reformist
The world today
Appears to abide
Narrow Democratic tone
After all
Tone for democracy is itself
Propagated by few
Society acts differently
Unlike machine
Let the tone for democracy
Let the tone for participation
Come from everyone
Let everyone determine the nature of
tone
Already settled
Yet to be settled
Let’s participate in setting tone
In the largest interest
In every walks of life
Let’s be equal and just
Let’s be one
